Seychellois artist participates in Africa-China art exhibition

The exhibition was officially co-opened by the Assistant Director, International Division, Ministry of Culture, Mr. Zhao Haisheng, and the Director General of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication, Mr. Chen Guangya.

This exhibition followed a 2-month, artist-in-residence program organized under the aegis of the Forum of Cooperation China-Africa-FOCAC. It is to be noted that Alcide Libanotis studied in Hangzhou in the 80s, and it was his first visit to China after more than 20 years.

According to Ambassador Le Gall, the Seychellois artist played a leading role in his group, and the work he produced in China reflects both his very distinctive Seychellois identity and a strong interest in the observation of Chinese character and life style.

The Ministry of Social Development and Culture, as well as the Seychelles National Arts Council and the Chinese Embassy in Victoria, contributed to the success of Seychelles’ participation in this event.
