Seychelles Tourism Board and Seychelles Round Table co-host 2011 Regatta

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Alain St.Ange, and Seychelles Round Table committee members, Ashvin Seeboo, Dan Fontaine, Tirouven Chellumbrun, and Andy Moncherry, made this announcement on Thursday in a press conference, which took place at the Seychelles Tourism Board’s head office in Bel Ombre.

Both organizing committees of the SUBIOS, Seychelles Festival of the Sea, and Regatta are working together to have the two events organized as one from November 4-6 at the Beau Vallon beachfront on Mahe.

Welcoming the idea of hosting the two events together, Mr. St.Ange, has said that the pairing up of SUBIOS, The Seychelles Festival of the Sea and Regatta 2011 will definitely have a huge impact this year. “With SUBIOS, The Seychelles Festival of the Sea and Regatta combined, the weekend will be bigger and busier than ever before and will provide a wider range of activities for the public and tourists,” he said.

On his part, Mr. Ashvin Seeboo has said that the Seychelles Round Table has had to move this year’s edition of Regatta from its usual month of August as it had been a busy month for Seychelles and so are September and October. “The Regatta is one of the most popular social events in Seychelles, and it just couldn’t be left out. To ensure we hosted it, we approached the Seychelles Tourism Board to join forces with them and host the Regatta alongside SUBIOS, The Seychelles Featival of the Sea,” explained Mr. Seeboo.

It is to be noted that both the SUBIOS, The Seychelles Festival of the Sea and Regatta’s traditional activities will remain on the agenda.

This means there will be two lottery draws on Sunday, November 6, which will create much excitement and suspense. It is to be noted that the winner of the SUBIOS, The Seychelles Festival of the Sea film competition will also be announced on that day.

An interesting lineup of local and international artists will entertain the crowds on Seychelles’ first ever floating stage during the three days of celebrations, while on land, the famous greasy pole competition will attract its usual large audience.

Alain St.Ange has said that the Bay of Beau Vallon will provide a picture-perfect setting on November 4 for the event’s opening ceremony, with boat owners being encouraged to move their boats to Beau Vallon for these days of festivities and be the backdrop for classic souvenir pictures with the Beau Vallon Sunset over Silhouette Island.
