Seychelles satisfied with solidarity in the Vanilla Islands

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism & Culture, has said that he was satisfied with the developments to not only strengthen the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands group, but to also see the consolidation of the organization. The Seychelles Minister was reacting to phone interviews with the foreign press following the press conference called by Robert Desvaux, the Chairman of the Mauritius Tourism Promotional Authority (MTPA), which he himself attended alongside Pascal Viroleau, the Head of the IRT (La Reunion Tourism).

“We are thankful that Mr. Robert Desvaux traveled to Seychelles to meet with us and La Reunion on the way forward for the Vanilla Islands. This follows the meeting we had with Madagascar and Mayotte during the International Tourism Fair in Madagascar, and it reinforced the point that we were all committed to work together for the benefit of our region,” Minister St.Ange said.

The Seychelles meeting agreed that it was important for necessary documents based on planned projects by the group of islands to be prepared to be presented to the Meeting of Ministers of the Vanilla Islands group. This meeting will also look at the appointment of a CEO for the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands group and to designate the proposal that the head office for the grouping of islands to be set up in La Reunion.

“The Vanilla Islands are now set to move forward, and all the six islands are united to ensure that the consolidation process of the grouping takes place. We have resolved that we need to meet often and also to keep an open dialogue amongst ourselves. Robert Desvaux has made it clear to us in Seychelles and to Pascal Viroleau of La Reunion that we had been confronted by a misunderstanding of the Shopping Festival Event set to take place in Mauritius this month. This will be their event to be marketed by the Vanilla Islands group alongside the Carnaval International de Victoria that is staged in Seychelles, the International Tourism Fair that is staged in Madagascar, and the Food Festival&the La Reunion Day marking the abolition of slavery event staged in La Reunion.”
