Secret Escapes appoints new chief and attracts additional funding

Exclusive flash sale website Secret Escapes has appointed a new chief executive, Alex Saint.

Saint previously held the same position with rival Dealchecker.

The appointment is made at the same time that Secret Escapes has attracted a second round of funding on the back of strong trading.

Since launch in January 2011, the website has attracted 750,000 active users. It is currently doubling turnover every three months and has now featured deals to more than 500 hotels on the website.

Last month Secret Escapes announced major co-branded partnerships with some of the leading players in the sector, including Teletext and a national newspaper, after only eight months of operation.

Tom Valentine, managing director of Secret Escapes commented: “Alex joining as chief executive gives a real boost to the business.

“He is enormously well respected and joins us at a time when the company is moving onto an entirely new level.

“Consumer response to the site has been phenomenal and we are now firmly established in the marketplace.

“Our additional funding is supporting major new marketing initiatives which will support our drive to become market leader in this space.”

He added: “High end consumers now have a different mindset.

“They want luxury goods and experiences but they want a deal. Our model taps into the current mood, which is why business is so good.

“As we develop more partnerships and marketing initiatives it means we can offer our members even better value.”
