Second Australian carrier grounded over safety concerns

Australian airline Jetstar grounded four aircraft overnight following concerns over safety.

The carrier is the second in the region to see planes banned from the skies, with Tiger Airways seeing its whole fleet grounded until at least August 1st.

A total of four A320 aircraft were serviced overnight, forcing the cancellation of two return services on Thursday, Jetstar said.

Emergency light batteries on board the aircraft were tested, while hydraulic fluid was sampled and door switches were lubricated.

All aircraft were returned to operation on Friday.

Jetstar has advised the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of the grounding.
