Hyatt Hotels has appointed Michael Schmid as the new general manager of Park Hyatt Mallorca, Spain.

The Park Hyatt brand’s first resort in Europe opened earlier this month and marks the re-entry of Hyatt into Spain.
Schmid is a Swiss national, raised in Latin America and educated in Switzerland.

“I can’t wait to start in my new role and become part of an incredible team that has worked extremely hard in opening the first Park Hyatt resort in Europe,” said Schmid.

“It has been a wonderful journey for me with Hyatt during the last couple of years.

“I have worked in unique destinations in several countries and across a variety of Hyatt’s top brands.

“I am very excited to bring my experience to my new assignment in Mallorca and I look forward to moving to the island with my family.”

After three years in Costa Rica, Schmid will be moving to Mallorca with his wife and his daughter as well as their new born baby girl.

Schmid will take over the leadership of Park Hyatt Mallorca as of June 22nd, 2016, from John Beveridge, who will retire from his career after 34 years with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
