Scandinavian Airlines signs up for Amadeus Fare Families

With Amadeus Fare Families, customers of Scandinavian Airlines will soon be able to select the ancillaries they want with full fare transparency and in just one click. Scandinavian Airlines signed up for Amadeus’ fully customisable branded fare groups — which can include specific products and services like the option to cancel or change a ticket, or the ability to check in an extra bag for example — so that each fare is tailored to different travellers’ specific needs.

“Our vision is to make life easier for Scandinavia’s frequent travelers. As a part of this SAS is now launching Amadeus Fare Families to simplify and improve the sales experience for both travel agents and travelers.” says Tobias Jönsson VP Revenue Management from Scandinavian Airlines.

These Amadeus Fare Families will be available to travellers for indirect bookings when the new fares are implemented in April.

Travel agents will find that Amadeus Fare Families will improve their ability to customise their offers and to identify upselling opportunities. Travel managers will also have access to the fares via Amadeus’ corporate booking tools.

“Fare Families present a great opportunity for airlines that want to simplify and improve the shopping experience for travellers and travel agents, and they significantly improve ancillary sales,” says Decius Valmorbida, Vice-President of Distribution Marketing at Amadeus.

In 2015, Amadeus observed a nearly 100% increase in the amount of ancillaries being sold by online and offline travel agents. Amadeus Fare Families are now being offered by 25 airlines worldwide, with 10 airlines signed up for the service and in the process of implementing the solution in the months to come.
