Sabre signs up TripAdvisor for Red App

Global travel technology company Sabre has partnered with TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, to bring the most in-depth, up-to-date seat and in-flight amenity information to agents via a new Sabre Red App.

The world’s first B2B application store for the travel industry, the Sabre Red App Centre provides an open platform and marketplace for developers to build and promote unique applications that can be integrated into the Sabre Red Workspace, expanding the environment in which travel agents shop, book and manage travel.

The SeatGuru Red App will help agents make the best seat selection for their customers by allowing them to explore seat maps as well as specific seat information and reviews submitted by actual travellers.

In addition, agents will have access to information on in-flight amenities including entertainment options, Wi-Fi access, power and USB ports and meals.

“As airlines do more to differentiate the traveller experience, it is critical that agents are able to quickly access information on the differences in seat attributes and amenities between airlines,” said Chris Kroeger, senior vice president of Sabre Travel Network.

“Sabre and TripAdvisor have leveraged the Sabre Red App Centre to quickly introduce new, innovative capabilities that benefit both our travel agency and airline customers.”

Through the Red App Centre, agents can order the SeatGuru Red App and incorporate it directly into their Sabre Red Workspace, giving them more insight to select the best seats for travellers.

The seat information from the SeatGuru Red App will build upon Sabre’s recently enhanced seat map and seat booking capabilities for airlines in the Sabre travel marketplace.

“SeatGuru is a powerful travel planning resource that provides travellers insights on the best airline seats and in-flight amenities covering airlines worldwide,” said Jami Counter, senior director of TripAdvisor Flights.

“Being able to offer SeatGuru content through Sabre’s extensive network of travel agents means we’re helping even more travellers fly smarter and find a flight they’ll love.”

Sabre Red Apps help agencies increase efficiency and revenue, and improve service by creating a customised workflow to best meet their business needs and the needs of their customers.

Red Apps are individual applications that plug into the Sabre Red Workspace, extending its power and capability.

Sabre launched the Red App Centre in March 2012. Since then, Sabre has published more than 150 apps in the Red App Centre, with many more in development from more than 70 certified Red App providers.

Agents in 100 countries have used the Red App Centre, generating more than 210,000 app downloads.
