Sabre inks deal with Icelandair Hotels

Sabre Hospitality Solutions has been selected by Icelandair Hotels to provide technology to drive the hotel chain’s expansion strategy.

Icelandair Hotels, which has a portfolio of 20 properties, is the largest hotel provider in Iceland. It has implemented Sabre Hospitality Solutions’ SynXis central reservation system (CRS) and is now seamlessly connected to all channels, including the distribution of rooms and rates through the four major global distribution systems (GDSs).

On completion of the second phase, Icelandair Hotels will add additional channels, including numerous online travel agents, mobile and the Guest Connect booking engine to drive its hotels’ websites.

Hildur Ómarsdóttir, Icelandair Hotels’ director of sales and marketing, said: “The implementation of Sabre Hospitality Solutions’ leading technology is the first step on the road towards expanding our customer base across the Nordics, Russia and Western Europe.

“Iceland is no longer just a weekend-break destination. Volumes of inbound business travel and leisure tourism are increasing fast. Having the industry’s best CRS in place alongside a powerful web-booking engine and the reach provided by the GDSs means we are perfectly positioned to capitalise on this growth and provide our customers with the best possible shopping and booking experience.”
