Royal Jet’s $9 million Boeing Business Jet refit nears halfway mark

The fourth Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) of Royal Jet, the Abu Dhabi-based international luxury flight services company chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, which is undergoing a US$9 million upgrade, is halfway through its refurbishment programme. The BBJ named A6-AIN is one of Royal Jet ‘s six-strong fleet of BBJs.

Designed by Edése Doret, the acclaimed New York aircraft interiors consultancy, AIN is slowly taking shape at its temporary home in Bordeaux, France.

“Each of our aircraft has its own personality and we are developing AIN in such a way that our guests will enjoy one of the most luxurious in-flight experiences ever,” said Shane O’Hare, President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Jet . “The refurbishment programme is similar to that of a luxury boutique hotel and as part of our ongoing investment into fleet refurbishment, we are ensuring that all our guests on-board remain satisfied, and more importantly this reflects our commitment to the market.”

The in-depth cabin refurbishment includes livery painting, aircraft maintenance and Avionic a systems upgrade including state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment, live TV, SATCOM, Wi-Fi and global mobile systems (GSM) for the ultimate in flight passenger relaxation and connectivity.
Each of the 46 VIP, business and economy seats will be refurbished with high quality leather made of Ostrich skin. All aircraft cabinetry work too is well underway and will be finished in a fine combination of wood veneer, leather and polycarbonate materials of the best quality.

The CFM56-7 engines of AIN are being overhauled at the OEM facility in France and are also half way through. Aircraft is currently under storage maintenance program, which complies with regulatory standards, until the cabin installation and testing phase begins towards the end.
“The 737s collectively have over 60 million hours of flight time and are still in high demand in the aviation market and this refurbishment will ensure that the AIN will last well into its extended life cycle and service its royal and VIP guests in the most luxurious manner,” added O’Hare.

Royal Jet recently won the award ‘World’s Leading Private Jet Charter’ at this years prestigious World Travel Awards Grand Final Ceremony held in India.
