Rosberg takes pole at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg has brought the curtain down on the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship season with his third successive win, ahead of his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who finished in second place and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who came third.

The German driver, who set a new F1 record at the stunning Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi won by 8.2 seconds to complete Mercedes’ 12th one-two finish of the season.

Following the race Rosberg, who finished the season on a high, with three consecutive wins and six straight pole positions thanked his team and claimed he felt ‘ecstatic’ to have won.

“Thanks to my team for my stunning car. I’m ecstatic.” He commented.

Since 2009, people have come from all around the world to experience the Etihad Airways Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi which has become a popular social and sporting event.

Yas Marina Circuit is an awe-inspiring experience for drivers and spectators alike, with a waterfront setting to rival the likes of Monaco and Singapore.

The circuit is straddled by the Yas Viceroy Hotel and also features a 60-metre solar powered Shams Tower and a pit lane, which sees the cars exit via a tunnel passing under the track.

Off-track, the entertainment throughout the event showcased Abu Dhabi at its most glamorous. Among other things, live concerts featuring performances by major international artists, in the past have included Price, Jay Z, Muse, Beyoncé, Aerosmith, Linkin Park, and Paul McCartney to name a few, as well VIP parties for F1’s top stars.
