Robert Gaymer-Jones appointed chief executive at Sofitel Worldwide

Robert Gaymer-Jones, who joined the Group in 2007 as chief operating officer Sofitel Worldwide after holding a variety of senior operational positions, notably with Marriott International, has been appointed chief executive officer for Sofitel Worldwide.

For three years, he has been implementing the ambitious plan to reposition Sofitel as a new global reference in international luxury hotels, including a complete restyling of the brand and rationalizing of the network, plus an overall implementation of new standards and concept including the launch of the two labels, Sofitel Legend and Sofitel So.

This bold and daring strategy can now be seen as a success with a new vision created for Sofitel, bolstered by strong brand values.

Reinforced by this appointment, Robert continues to develop the network and to increase the brand equity through recognition and brand awareness.

Robert has over 35 years of experience in the luxury international hotel industry, having previously served in top positions for Marriott International and other leading global hotels, having worked in over nine countries and three continents.

After graduating from Hotel School in the United Kingdom, Robert went on to develop his career starting in food and beverage at hotels and resorts in Switzerland, The Bahamas and Bermuda before joining Marriott International in the United States, Middle East and Europe.

Robert lives in Paris and London with his wife Monique and their two children.

He oversees the Sofitel Worldwide team from his office in Paris.
