Rio Grande Scenic Railroad launches summer campaign

The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad has announced its summer San Francisco/Napa Valley Getaway Contest; a competition for the best train travel story or memory.

Eligible winners include those who have purchased any ticket to a concert in the 2012 Mountain Rails Live Summer Concert Series, including tickets to see this weekend’s special guest Special Consensus.

Rio Grande Scenic Railroad’s Getaway Contest will take place on August 27th, marking the close of the summer concert seasons. Grand prize, as well as second and third place winners, are eligible to win prize packages that include transportation, hotel and food costs.

The contest’s Grand Prize Package includes a five-day trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley wine country, as well as airfare from Denver to San Francisco and a four-night hotel stay split between the San Francisco Hilton Hotel and the Napa River Inn.

The Grand Prize winner also receives lunch on the famous Napa Valley Wine Train and numerous MasterCard gift cards to dine at the restaurants of his or her choice.

The second place prize package includes a three-day, two-night stay at a Sedona spa resort, including spa services, meals and various activities.

The third place winner will receive a $500.00 MasterCard gift card.

The Special Consensus bluegrass concert is part of Rio Grande Scenic Railroad’s 2012 Mountain Rails Live Summer Concert Series line-up, hosted at an eco-conscious concert site only accessible by train.

Summer Concert Series tickets range from $19 to $149 depending on the class of service and departure location.

Trains depart from Alamosa or La Veta and take passengers directly to the concert site at Fir - an amphitheatre powered solely by wind and solar energy.
