Retail bookings surge to record levels to start the New Year

Holiday Extras, the UK’s leader in travel add-ons including airport parking, hotels, lounges and travel insurance, has announced another record breaking day on January 9, 2013, beating the previous record achieved on January 8, 2011.

The biggest year on year growth for bookings was at Leeds Bradford, Stansted, Edinburgh and Bristol airports, as customers flocked to book their holidays and planned to escape the miserable winter weather, or the thought of another soggy summer.

James Lewis, Head of Partnerships for Holiday Extras said:  “What a week! The upsurge in bookings, including airport lounge reservations, indicates that people are determined to make the most of their holidays this year.

“We have seen particularly strong growth coming from the high street and the major airlines. This is proving that agents are making the most out of ancillaries and really working hard to maximise every opportunity. It’s a very encouraging start to the year and long may it continue.”
