Republic on the rise

World Travel Market London 2015 will offer the Dominican Republic Tourism Board a chance to celebrate the 6% rise in international visitors seen in the first half of 2015.

About 2.5 million tourists entered the country between January and June – an increase of more than 143,000 year-on-year – confirming the continued popularity of the Caribbean destination.

The international airport at Punta Cana, in the country’s popular eastern region, welcomed two thirds of the tourists travelling to the Dominican Republic.

The European market comprises more than a fifth (22%) of those visiting.
