Record business expected at International Golf Travel Market

International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), the world’s premier global event for golf tourism suppliers, buyers and media, is gearing up for more than 10,000 meetings over four days, November 14-17, 2011.

The unique pre-arranged appointment system will enable 300 golf tour operators and 500 exhibitors (golf destinations and resorts) to meet and do business.

This year, IGTM is being staged in Belek, Antalya, Turkey – Europe’s fastest growing golf destination and a gateway between Europe and Asia.

“Belek has proved itself to be a dynamic, high quality golf travel destination that has captured the imagination and the market for international golf tourism,” said Reed Travel Exhibitions’ Peter Grimster, who has recently been promoted to the role of Exhibition Manager.

“With an important strategic position, it is ideally located between Europe and Asia, which is why we are attracting the highest ever number of Asian buyers and exhibitors, including exhibitors from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.”

IGTM’s pre-arranged appointment system enables tour operators and exhibitors to book meetings in advance and optimise their time during the exhibition.

Away from the Antalya Exhibition Centre, there will also be informal networking and meeting opportunities in Belek at the Welcome Reception at the new Maxx Royal, plus the IGTM Gala Dinner, featuring the IAGTO Awards, at the Cornelia Diamond Resort. Transfers to and from the exhibition in Antalya and events will be provided for delegates staying in the official IGTM hotels in Belek.

“We have a perfect match in terms of the ratio of buyers and exhibitors this year, which means a high volume of business is likely to beachieved,” continued Peter Grimster.

“Many of our most loyal clients are continuing to support IGTM despite the challenging economic times. They are choosing to invest in IGTM as opposed to other events because they can quantify and measure a return on investment due to the quality of the pre-arranged appointments.

“Clearly, many people want to see how Turkey has become so successful in such a short period of time, and benefit from what we believewill be the most successful IGTM to date.”

Belek is close to the cosmopolitan city of Antalya on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast and just 30 kilometres from the city’s international airport. It is one of the fastest growing and most successful golf destinations in the world and boasts 15 world-class golf venues, featuring signature designed golf courses by Sir Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie, among others. There is also a wealth of high-quality hotels and an excellent range of leisure facilities in the region, along with plenty of tourist attractions, history and culture to explore.

IGTM is being hosted by Betuyab, the Belek Tourism Investors Association and has the full support of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Turkish Airlines.
