Reasons to cruise part two: fine dining and a masterclass with Marco Pierre White
P&O Cruises chef and restaurateur, Marco Pierre White, has performed a starring role in a set of new short films from the cruise line.
The first video shows passengers how to recreate a classic Marco dish in their own ‘galleys’. A step by step demonstration of Marco’s ‘sea bass with ginger and spring onion’ recipe is encapsulated into the four minute film, showing just how easy it is to recreate special dishes after trying them out on board.
The second film is a more in-depth interview with the renowned ‘godfather’ of British cooking. Both films explore the relationship between Marco and P&O Cruises and the inspiration behind his menus, restaurants and his passion for providing memorable dining experiences on board.
Marco Pierre White said: “I’ve been asked many times what made me get involved with ships. As a boy I was always fascinated by them… and then one day I was asked if I’d consider getting involved and so I came on a ship, and I went on a short cruise and if I’m honest, I fell in love overnight.
“It’s a discovery for me and had it not been for P&O Cruises I don’t think I would ever have had the opportunity to have seen some of the fabulous places I’ve visited over the years.

“For the menus I had to think, ‘from where do I take my inspiration?’ and the one thing that dictates is the sun. I felt that sunshine flavours were really important so when we’re in the Mediterranean or in the Caribbean, the food works.”
The videos are hosted on the P&O Cruises YouTube channel and Facebook page. They can be downloaded for hosting on independent sites.
