Reasons to cruise part one: how much can you fit into one weekend?

A new video highlighting how a cruise break is an ideal way to have a weekend away and showing the myriad of things there are to do on a two-night cruise, has been produced by P&O Cruises.

Presented by Captain Paul Brown and filmed on board Ventura, the video tracks a two night cruise from start to finish, showcasing everything from the easy embarkation in Southampton through to the champagne sailaway deck party and a day in Bruges for chocolate shopping and exploring. Back on board, it shows passengers enjoying the gym, spa and dressing up in black-tie for a party night.

Captain Brown commented: “I think the great appeal of short cruises is that your holiday literally starts as soon as you arrive at the ship. It’s so easy. We quickly get you on board, suitcases are brought to your cabin, and that enables you to relax as soon as you arrive on board. You can be up on deck, having a glass of champagne and really settling into the holiday in less than an hour.”

Various passengers give their views on the highlights of their weekend and of a cruise as a great alternative to a city break. Susie Cookson from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, said: “I am finding this very exciting, we think it’s incredibly good value for money and anything that means I don’t have to go to an airport is absolutely fantastic.”

P&O Cruises chef and restaurateur, Marco Pierre White, also features in the film, commenting: “the beauty of short cruising is it allows people to dip their toe into the water.”
