Quito set to welcome sporting elite to Ecuador

Quito has confirmed it will host two large international sports tournaments over the next months.

With the intention of becoming a reference city in terms of event management, the capital of Ecuador will be home for the PGA Latin American Tour in September and for the ATP 250 Tournament next January, 2015.

The PGA Latin American Tour, the most important golf tournament in the world, will be held in Quito from September 22nd-28th.

Under the name “All You Need is Ecuador Travel Open”, the tournament will be attended by 150 golf professionals from all over the world.

It is estimated that around 1,500 people will enter on a daily basis and most of them will be golf players with high spending power.

According to recent studies, this type of consumer spends 74 per cent more than the average tourist.

Additionally, Quito will also be hosting the Association Tennis Professionals World Tour 250 event the next year, taking over from Viña del Mar, in Chile, which has formerly held this tournament for 21 years.

The name of the tournament will be “Ecuador Open Quito” and will be held from January 31st to February 8th, 2015.

It will be broadcasted live on television to more than 190 countries as well as live streamed online.

This is really meaningful to Ecuador for it will be the most important sportive event ever held in the country.
