Qatar Airways to offer daily Perth flights from Doha

Qatar Airways to offer daily Perth flights from Doha

Qatar Airways is increasing frequency of services to the West Australian city of Perth to daily, effective December 1st 2012, in time for the peak holiday season.

The new daily flight follows the successful launch of the thrice-weekly services to Perth earlier this year, Qatar Airways’ second daily gateway in Australia after Melbourne.

Operated by the airline’s flagship long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft from Doha, passengers flying with Qatar Airways will also soon have the opportunity to experience the revolutionary Boeing 787 Dreamliner which will shortly be deployed on one of the five daily London Heathrow services.

With a total journey time of less than 19 hours, the London Heathrow-Perth route via Doha is one of the quickest to Australia from the UK, and coincides with a major renaissance in the beachside city.

Several new hotels have opened their doors this month, including the 5-star, 15-room Terrace Hotel and the Fraser Suites with its vertical gardens, art gallery and cascading ponds.

Infrastructure projects are creating new social hubs in the city, including a new waterfront area named Elizabeth Quay and a $236 million urban redevelopment project that will create space in the central city through sinking a section of the railway line.

Qatar Airways UK & Ireland country manager, Richard Oliver, said the daily service from Doha to Perth confirms the success of the initial launch in July and demonstrates the airline’s drive to connect with the rest of the world.

“Qatar Airways is continuing to develop and provide customers with daily, comfortable access to destinations that are largely underserved by our international competitors. Perth is just one of the most recent examples of the airline’s aggressive expansion strategy which has focused on addressing underserved markets.

“An increasingly popular destination for both leisure and corporate travellers, Perth offers expansive beaches and world-class wineries, and the city is an important business destination for the mining and agricultural industries.”

Passengers flying to Perth will also be able to sample the airline’s recently-introduced new in-flight culinary menu.

Created by renowned chefs Tom Aitkens, Nobu Matsuhisa, Vineet Bhatia and Ramzi Choueiri the new range of signature dishes includes black cod with lemon and Chicken Mousakhan with apricot sauce.
