Puerto Rico welcomes Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2015

Puerto Rico has been hosting the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2015 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.

The event is considered one of the most important symposiums of the tourism industry in the Caribbean.

Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, explained that around 1,100 delegates from 29 different countries were expected to attend.

Participants include 283 suppliers and 106 buyers.

These visits will generate at least 2,549 room nights at hotels surrounding the area of the Puerto Rico Convention Center.

“We are very proud of being both host and sponsors of this important event, which offers service providers of the tourism industry the opportunity to meet face-to-face with wholesalers specialized in Caribbean travel packages from all over the world”, added Rocafort.

The event consists of a series of pre-scheduled individual meetings between service providers and buyers.

Due to the nature of the convention, only registered delegates are allowed to participate and the venue is not open to the general public.

The CHTA Marketplace facilitates business opportunities as it gathers Caribbean tour operators and entrepreneurs under the same roof.

Participants are able to coordinate several back-to-back meetings during the two-day event and maximize their time and business growth opportunities.

Social activities included in the schedule of Caribbean Travel Marketplace are planned to facilitate and promote business networking.

Previous marketplace events include companies from the Caribbean, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Among the wholesalers present are 300 representatives from hotels, tourist attractions, destination management companies, tour operators, and transportation providers.
