Princess Royal visits Butlins to celebrate The Carers Trust

Celebrating Butlins’ support for its official charity, The Carers Trust - HRH, The Princess Royal has visited Butlins Minehead.

The Princess, who is the first member of the Royal household to visit a Butlins property in several years, met carers who have recently taken part in Butlins’ new park-wide work experience initiative as well as other carers and their families who were invited to the resort.

While at the park, The Princess visited various venues around the resort including the Firehouse Grill, the Quayside Diner and several activity venues such as Bullseye Bay and the Arts and Crafts Centre where she watched carers taking part in various activities including pumpkin carving, circus skills and face-painting.

The visit concluded with The Princess being cheered on by families enjoying half-term at the resort as she unveiled a plaque to recognise the support Butlins gives the charity.

Allan Lambert, head of retail sales for Bourne Leisure commented: “It is a great honour to have welcomed HRH, The Princess Royal to Butlins Minehead.

“Butlins has enjoyed working with The Carer’s Trust and is proud to have raised almost a quarter of a million pounds for the charity and been able to support and celebrate the selfless efforts of both its carers and fundraisers within the UK who were thrilled to receive the Royal seal of approval!”

In the past five years the Butlins team has raised almost £250,000 for The Carers Trust and offered work experience to carers who look after a sick or disabled family member or friend.
