Prague Convention Bureau launches new marketing campaign of Prague at EIBTM

Prague Convention Bureau accomplished many successes at EIBTM fair in Barcelona. Beside a number of successful appointments with meeting planners and lots of promising inquiries for Prague, PCB organized together with the Prague Tourist Board a press conference for international media.

There was introduced groundbreaking step of Prague - marketing campaign for promoting Prague as meeting destination. Not only Prague Convention Bureau, but also other important institutions realize how necessary is to promote Prague as significant meeting destination, and therefore for the first time in history will City of Prague will run marketing campaign which will focus on attracting association, corporate and government events. “Until now, the city of Prague and other entities used a number of disparate materials, images and slogans for promotion of Prague in their target markets, and we need to change that,” claimed Director of Prague Convention Bureau Lenka Žlebková.

Marketing campaign for app. 345 000 EUR is planned for next year and will include campaign in print media, FAM trips and PRESS trips, and should be based on Prague main Key Selling Points – Prague inspiring, comfortable, accessible and with outstanding quality of congressional infrastructure at a reasonable cost. This is one of the paths, which aims to lead Prague into first top 10 MICE destinations in the world. Prague´s ranking has been dropping world widely over last 5 years dramatically – it reached the best ranking in 2006 with 104 meetings. In 2010 its 19th position was the worst in previous 5 years.

Prague Convention Bureau also launched at EIBTM new marketing tool – Meeting Planners´ Guide 2012 – official congress catalogue of Prague, which was published in collaboration of Prague Convention Bureau and C.O.T media publishing house, under the auspices of the Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Relations and Tourism of the Prague City Hall Jan Kalousek. The catalogue is designed as an overview of significant congressional venues from the modern conference centres with up-to-date technologies to the historical jewels in the city centre, related first-class services, and Prague’s hotels and other amenities. This catalogue will be a great tool for meeting organizers who consider Prague for their next event in both hard and electronic versions, which everybody can download at the PCB website.

During the fair, PCB organized as well together with the Czech Convention Bureau a cocktail reception for buyers entitled “Applause for the Czech Republic”, a DJ, two beatboxers and electricboogie performance that transformed meeting planners into electro buggers. Part of the party was a traditional raffle with many fantastic prizes to win – such as weekend stay in 5star hotel in Prague, dinner for two and tickets to the State opera.
