RAF Typoons escort Pakistan International Airlines plane to Stansted

A Boeing 747 operated by Pakistan International Airlines has made an unscheduled landing at Stansted Airport.

The plane was escorted by RAF Typhoon fighter jets after reports of a disruptive passenger on board.

It touched down at 14:50 this afternoon.

There is currently no disruption operations at Stansted, with the plane held away from the airport and main passenger terminal at the airport.

An Essex police spokesman told the BBC: “There is no disruption to the on-going operation of Stansted Airport.

“This is not believed to be a hijack situation or terror matter.”

The plane had been on route to Heathrow Airport from Lahore in Pakistan.
