One&Only Reethi Rah launches new pop-up boutique

One&Only Reethi Rah has announced an exclusive collaboration with designer swimwear brand Babajaan, due to launch this November at a pop-up boutique on the white sands of the luxury resort’s six kilometre private beach in the Maldives.

Babajaan has created exclusive, customisable items, including bikinis, kaftans and hats, to be sold at the pop-up store until April 2013 and through Babajaan’s online store.

One&Only has successfully partnered with several marquee designers over the years from Christian Louboutin and Missoni to Anya Hindmarch and Matthew Williamson to create exclusive one-offs for the resorts’ fashion-hungry guests.

This time they’re taking the fashion collaboration to the next level with a stand-alone pop-up boutique.

Located on One&Only Reethi Rah’s stunning white beach and overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the boutique will be perfectly placed for guests to indulge in some retail-therapy in between sunbathing and swimming sessions.

Babajaan designer and founder, Sandra Moleirinho and One&Only director of retail, Preston Schroeder have collaborated to create four exclusive swimwear designs, three kaftans and a selection of Panama hats for the pop-up store.

Guests will be able to customize the exclusive One&Only items, choosing from hand-picked lines of fabric, embroidery, beading and chain detail for their selected garment, which will then be made to order on-site.

The Panama hats will be traditionally woven by a Babajaan expert weaver from Ecuador, pressed to the desired shape and decorated with bespoke ribbons and trimmings, as chosen by the guest.

After April 2013, the items will also be available at select One&Only boutiques around the world.

In addition, there are plans to make the pop-up swim-wear boutique permanent at Reethi Rah, selling a selection of rotating designer brands, from Mathew Williamson to Melissa Odabash.

This will complement the offering at the existing fashion boutique at the resort, Neo, which currently stocks sought after brands such as Stella McCartney, Issa and Thierry Lasry.

Schroeder said: “At One&Only, we are constantly looking at ways we can offer personalized service, so we are thrilled to announce this collaboration.

“One&Only is about unique experiences – and this collaboration, which gives our guests the opportunity to commission their very own bespoke fashion items, is a true One&Only experience.

“The items will be created and ready for the guests to wear in a matter of hours.”
