Fulfilling the ambition of many down here on earth, it has been confirmed Russell Brand will be blasted into space.

Sadly for some, he will also be returning to earth, as he enjoys a luxurious $200,000 birthday gift from singer girlfriend Katy Perry.

Boarding the Richard Branson created Virgin Galactic service, Brand will take a trip into the Earth’s atmosphere some time next year.

Virgin Galactic representative, Louella Faria, confirmed: “It is true. We are very excited to have him onboard.

“There will be 17-inch diameter windows to look out onto.

“Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space. They will pop champagne, give you astronaut wings and give you a party.”

However, the present may have to wait until next year, as the project is still in the development stage.

Will Whitehorn, president of Virgin Galactic, has previously stated the company would “not put a definite timeline on when the commercial flights would begin” but that “all was on track with its development plan”.

He added in June last year: “If all goes to plan the inaugural sub-orbital flight should happen within two years.”

Earlier this year, World Travel Awards honoured the launch of the Virgin Galactic service as the most important development in the travel industry over the last decade.
