Oman Air returns to WTM
Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, returns to World Travel Market (WTM) this year to celebrate the outstanding success of its London to Muscat service.
Senior staff from Muscat and the UK will be welcoming guests and inviting them to join in the celebrations, which will take place on the huge Oman Air stand, ME 430, throughout the course of the four day event.
In addition, the stand will feature Oman Air’s luxurious Business Class seat, which was recently named “Best Business Class Seat in the World” at the World Airline Awards. The accolade was complemented by the award in September of “Airline of the Year” at Top Resa, in Paris.
Philippe Georgiou, Oman Air’s Chief Officer Corporate Affairs, commented:
“We are delighted to be returning to WTM this year, and to be celebrating the fourth anniversary of our daily, non-stop and direct London to Muscat route. This flagship service has seen consistent year-on-year growth and has been boosted by a series of initiatives which have mirrored the remarkable transformation of Oman Air.

“Our move to Heathrow’s Terminal 3 three years ago increased the convenience and accessibility of the service. The introduction of our new Airbus A330 fleet, which offers unparalleled space and comfort, enabled us to offer luxury air travel to an expanded range of long haul destinations. Our new Embraer 175 fleet offers similar levels of luxury on services to short haul destinations. And innovations such as our pioneering and award-winning introduction of inflight mobile phone and Wi-Fi connectivity have provided customers with even greater amenity and value.
“We have also opened superb new First Class and Business Class lounges at Muscat International Airport, our First Class Passengers at Heathrow continue to enjoy the exclusivity of the Emirates lounge and our Business Class customers have exclusive access to the brand new No.1 Traveller lounge at Terminal 3.
“Furthermore, we offer outstanding fares from London to Muscat and destinations throughout the Middle East, East Africa and Asia, and our on-time performance at Heathrow has seen us placed within the top five airlines throughout this year, and at the number one position for four of those months.
“We thus have a huge amount to celebrate, and World Travel Market 2011 is the ideal location in which to share our success and plan even greater achievements for the future.”
Oman’s Ministry of Tourism (WTM Stand ME 400) will be joining Oman Air in the Fourth Anniversary celebrations, as well as marking the opening of the world-class Royal Opera House Muscat and a number of other hotels and attractions. The celebrations will include a reception for 150 guests, and a treasure hunt, which will offer a range of prizes for delegates who discover the correct answers to a series of questions about Oman Air and the Sultanate of Oman.
Philippe Georgiou, who will be joined on the Oman Air stand by the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Abdulrazaq Al Raisi, added:
“World Travel Market is an excellent opportunity to renew old acquaintances, make new friends and raise awareness within the travel trade of both Oman Air’s unbeatable quality and value and of Oman as a unique year-round destination. We look forward to giving a warm welcome to all visitors to our stand and to offering everyone a taste of Oman’s renowned hospitality.”
