Oman Air overhauls UK sales team as operations grow

As Oman Air continues to expand in the UK, with a double daily flight from London Heathrow to Muscat and the launch of the new Manchester flight in 2017, the national airline for the Sultanate of Oman has recruited a completely new UK sales team during 2016.

The team, all working from the airline’s Hammersmith offices in London will develop and grow the UK business focussing on both direct and trade sales.

First to join the team in February 2016 was Kel Patel who has previously worked for Air Mauritius and Etihad Airways.

Patel is district sales manager, UK & Ireland and is responsible for all direct and trade sales and marketing in the UK and Ireland.

Next to join the team in June 2016 was Mark Prentice, corporate account manager.

Gill’s role of leisure account manager means that she is responsible for all seat-only and specialist group sales in the UK.

Finally the team was completed with the arrival of Liz Langan as leisure account manager, who joined Oman Air in October 2016, with experience gained at Air Canada and Etihad Airways.

Langan is responsible for maintaining and developing all tour operator businesses in the UK.

Simon Cook, country manager UK & Ireland for Oman Air, said: “This is a very exciting time for Oman Air.

“The airline has ambitious expansion plans and the UK and Ireland play a major role in this.

“We have already launched our additional daily service from London Heathrow earlier this year and we are focusing very much on the launch of our Manchester flight in 2017.

“It is imperative that we have the right team in place to help raise awareness of Oman Air and our expanding international network to the UK trade and consumer audience.”
