October dedicated to cancer fundraising at Four Seasons Austin

This October, locals and guests at Four Seasons Hotel Austin can help find a cure for cancer simply by digging into a stack of pancakes, practicing their downward dog or listening to live music on the Hotel’s back lawn.  Dubbed “October for Seton,” the luxury Hotel’s month-long lineup of special events and new products – all benefiting Austin’s Seton Shivers Cancer Center at University Medical Center Brackenridge – is expected to raise more than USD 15,000.00. This money, combined with nearly USD 40,000.00 more raised by the Hotel throughout the year, will help fund cancer research trials and new equipment in Seton’s infusion center.

Below are details on each of the October offerings:

Pink Grapefruit Massage (October 1-31, 2012)

Filled with lycopene, a known cancer-fighting chemical, grapefruit is good for one’s health but also great for the skin. In The Spa’s Pink Grapefruit Massage, pink grapefruit essential oils are incorporated into a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage for an experience that’s both uplifting and stimulating. The Pink Grapefruit Massage is available October 1-31, 2012, and 10 percent of all proceeds will benefit Seton. To schedule an appointment, guests should call The Spa.

Pink Ribbon Punch (October 1-31, 2012)

The Lobby Lounge is punching things up this year with a new philanthropic cocktail, fittingly called the Pink Ribbon Punch. Made with Hendricks gin, Aperol, housemade rosé wine hibiscus tea syrup and a splash of prosecco, the drink tastes delicious and allows guests to sip proudly since 50 percent of each Pink Ribbon Punch sold goes to Seton. The cocktail will be available in the Lobby Lounge bar from October 1-31, 2012.

Austin City Limits Live with KUT (October 12, 2012)

Taking advantage of one of the most popular music festivals in town, Four Seasons Hotel Austin will once again team up with KUT-FM during Austin City Limits to feature live music on the Hotel’s back lawn, all benefiting Seton. Hosted by KUT’s Kevin Connor, the event will take place on Friday, October 12 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and feature four 40-minute sets by some of ACL’s most anticipated artists. Open to the public on a first-come, first serve basis, event admission is charged per person (which includes a breakfast taco and coffee) and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit Seton.

Yoga on the Lawn (October 13, 2012)

The Spa is rolling out the yoga welcome mat on Saturday, October 13 for its annual Yoga on the Lawn event, during which yogis of all ages are invited to practice their downward dog for a good cause. Starting at 10:00 am on the Hotel’s picturesque back lawn, the hour-long yoga session will be led by instructor Angela Knight with acoustic accompaniment by local favourite Murphy’s In Laws. Participants are asked to donate a minimum of USD 10.00, all of which will be donated to Seton; guests who donate USD 20.00 or more will receive a pool day pass valid that same day or Monday through Friday until October 31, 2012. Reservations are required.

TRIO Pancake Supper (October 23, 2012)

Locals and guests are invited to experience the fun of having breakfast for dinner during the annual Pancake Supper in TRIO, taking place Tuesday, October 23 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Guests will enjoy pancakes in three different flavours (oatmeal-pecan, banana-blueberry and buttermilk), along with a choice of chicken sausage, applewood-smoked bacon or a sausage patty. A limited á la carte dinner menu will also be available.  50 percent of proceeds benefiting Seton.

Bake Sale and Raffle (October 26, 2012)

On Friday, October 26, guests walking through the Lobby will feel like they’ve stepped out of a scene from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory thanks to the Hotel’s annual Bake Sale, featuring table upon table of cookies, cakes, breads and other dessert treats handmade by Four Seasons employees. Running from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, the event will also include a raffle and several silent auction items – collected from various Austin businesses and worth more than USD 10,000.00. Baked goods range in price from USD 1.00 (three cookies) to USD 15.00 (a whole pie), with raffle tickets USD 5.00 each. All proceeds will be donated to Seton.
