Nomad expands its data connectivity solutions into Eastern Europe

Nomad Digital Ltd is delighted to announce the deployment of its market leading passenger WiFi solution, its first in Eastern Europe, with Czech rail company, LEO Express.

LEO Express has selected Nomad to provide its leading edge technology on its new and distinctive Stadler Flirt fleet. The first of 5 trains has been accepted by the Czech operator this month and full fleet rollout is anticipated in December 2012. The service will run between Prague and Ostrava in the Czech Republic and will provide Leo Express’s passengers with a far more consistent internet experience than a passenger can achieve if they have a 3G network subscription.

This is the first of LEO Express’s passenger WiFi projects which in the next few years will be followed by other train units running on other routes, for example, Prague - České Budějovice or Ostrava -Vienna.

The passenger WiFi solution is based on Nomad’s R3500 router and will use all available 3G networks, working in aggregation mode to provide internet connectivity. The passenger experience will be further boosted by the provision of LCD displays showing real time travel information such as departure times and train location. The solution will also include the ability to pay on board for additional services.

Leoš Novotný, Chairman of LEO Group, commented, “We selected Nomad on a combination of their proven technology, previous experience of the Stadler Flirt for NSB, and excellent customer references. We look forward to delivering a great passenger WiFi solution as part of LEO Express’s commitment to providing an enhanced passenger experience.”
