Nine tourists killed in northern Pakistan
Nine tourists have been killed in a hotel in northern Pakistan during an assault in which gunmen are reported to have killed ten people.
Five are thought to be from the Ukraine, one from Lithuania and three from China, according to reports.
The tenth victim was their Pakistani tour guide.
The attack, which is the first of its kind in the region, has been claimed by the Pakistani Taliban, according to the BBC.
The tourists were part of a mountaineering expedition that has been planning to climb Nanga Parbat which, at 26,660 feet, is the world’s ninth highest mountain and Pakistan’s second highest peak.
