New leadership for Raffles Hotels in Cambodia

Peter French, president, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Thomas Christiansen as general manager of Raffles Hotel Le Royal and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor.

Christiansen moves to Raffles Hotels & Resorts from Grand Millennium Sukhumvit, Thailand where he has been the general manager since 2009.

Originally from Denmark, Christiansen has over 27 years of international experience working in luxury hotels and resorts.

“I am delighted to announce the news of Thomas’s appointment as general manager of our two Raffles Hotels & Resorts properties in Cambodia,” said French.

“Thomas is held in high regard within the industry and his extensive knowledge in Asia - with experience in multiple markets such as China, Hong Kong and Thailand – stands him in good stead for his position at Raffles.

“I have every confidence that he will succeed in his role both in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.”

Prior to his time with Millennium, Christiansen held prominent positions at Marriott, Banyan Tree in Thailand as well as The Peninsula Group in Hong Kong and China.

His career began with Spies Rejser Travel Agency in Spain, Greece and Africa before taking up a position as front office manager at Sequoia Lodge, Euro Disney France in 1992.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor are two of Southeast Asia’s classic grand hotels, full of history and atmosphere.

Originally opened in 1929 and 1932 respectively, they are the only two luxury hotels in Cambodia which pre-date the civil war and Khmer Rouge era.
