Cardiff Airport has promoted Spencer Birns to the position of director of aviation business development, heading up the airport’s campaign for more flights.

The appointment comes following the change in ownership and appointment of chief executive officer, Jon Horne and non executive directors in April 2013.

Birns first joined the airport in 2006 as head of aviation relations having previously worked at Manchester Airport and tour operator My Travel. 

He will report directly Horne and work alongside the other executive directors.

Horne said: “Spencer has a great wealth of knowledge and experience of airline and tour operator business and is well placed to take the airport forward in the task of delivering more airline services and destinations.

“Spencer has already played an important part in the delivery of the airport’s recent passenger growth reported last month.”
