Airbnb has appointed James McClure as the new general manager for the UK & Ireland.
Previously head of emerging markets for Singapore and south-east Asia at Google, McClure brings ten years of experience in business development to grow and lead the UK market.
Commenting on the appointment, Olivier Grémillon, managing director EMEA at Airbnb, said: “We are steadily growing our business arm in the UK and James is a great addition to this team.
“His previous experience at Google gives him essential insight into what it takes to work for a fast-moving, innovative tech company.”
The role will see James become the primary ambassador for Airbnb in the UK & Ireland, leading an entrepreneurial team in strengthening the brand’s presence in this market, both by driving supply and demand and driving brand love.
McClure commented: “Airbnb is one of the most exciting brands of the moment, changing the way people travel and a beacon of the sharing economy worldwide.
“I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role.”
