Murray wins gold at Olympic final in Wimbledon

Andy Murray has won the biggest title of his career, beating Roger Federer in the Olympic men’s singles final at Wimbledon.

25-year old Murray beat the Swiss champion in straight sets, 6-2 6-1 6-4, on centre court.

The victory means Murray is the first British man to win the Olympic singles gold medal since 1908.

Murray commented: “It’s the biggest win of my life”

The triumph came just four weeks after Murray was beaten in the finals at Wimbledon.

Team GB are currently in third place in the Olympic medals table with 36 medals, including 16 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.
