Monarch doubles hand baggage allowance

eisure carrier Monarch Airlines is doubling its baggage allowance for passengers on scheduled flights from November 1st. New gauges will be installed at airports to help passengers check their hand baggage is within the size range.

From next month, passengers can carry up to two pieces, for example a cabin bag and a handbag, or a small overnight bag and a laptop bag weighing up to 10kg.

On board, one of these items must be placed under the seat in front whilst the other can be placed in the overhead locker. New gauges will be installed at airports to help passengers check their hand baggage is within the size range.

“We are pleased to be able to respond positively to the needs of our customers and adjust our service accordingly,” Kevin George, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines said. 

“Our passengers have told us how important it is for them to be allowed two items and, working with our airport partners, we have been able to change our policy to suit them,” George added.

The new hand baggage allowance applies to all of Monarch’s scheduled flights (except those departing London Luton Airport). The hand baggage allowance for Monarch charter flights will remain unchanged at 5kg.
