“Miss Seychelles… Another World” gains home support

A delegation from Seychelles left the country yesterday morning for Indonesia in a show of support to the Seychelles representative at the Miss World beauty pageant.

The group consisting of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive Officer, Sherin Naiken, as well as other officials from the board, left the country yesterday morning for Jakarta.

While attending the Miss World Beauty with a purpose pageant, the Seychellois representatives will have the chance to attend the Miss World Charity Lunch and Beauty with a Purpose Auction as well as Miss World Top Model Final on Tuesday. Miss Naiken will also have the chance to meet high government officials in Indonesia to discuss possible tourism cooperation between the two countries.

“Being part of so many events just before the main beauty pageant is not only necessary to give our ‘Miss Seychelles… Another World’ the necessary support, but it is also useful to build the necessary contacts and ensure we obtain the necessary visibility through this much-publicized event,” said the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Chief Executive, Sherin Naiken.

The Seychellois delegation will also be in the audience to cheer Agnes Gerry, “Miss Seychelles… Another World” on as she takes part in the competition on Saturday evening. To recall, “Miss Seychelles… Another World” left the country earlier this month to take part in the annual beauty pageant.

“When I first arrived here I was a little bit scared as I didn’t know anyone, but then after that I met with the other girls in my group, which is a group of four; we all are very friendly with each other. The girls in my group are from Thailand, Korea, England, New Zealand, Nepal, Mongolia, Botswana, Zambia, Sri Lanka, and my roommate is from Sri Lanka; she doesn’t talk much though,” she said describing her arrival in Indonesia.

So far “Miss Seychelles… Another World” is holding 12th place in the People’s Choice ranking – but all is not lost as the public may still vote for Agnes Gerry on the Internet until Friday evening when the People’s Choice award officially closes.
