Miraval Arizona announces new collaborations with National Geographic Expeditions

Miraval Arizona, the top-rated destination spa resort located in Tucson, today announced new collaborations with National Geographic Expeditions and Lindblad Expeditions. The strategic alliance with two world-renowned exploration pioneers emphasizes Miraval’s continued commitment to creating one-of-a-kind offerings for its guests. As an established innovator in the health and wellness industry, Miraval Arizona continues to lead the way with new, cutting-edge programming and innovative In-Depth Explorations from unrivaled Specialists.

In partnership with National Geographic Expeditions, Miraval is offering a series of four-day photography workshops in Tucson where participants learn to take magazine-quality photos through edit-and-critique sessions with National Geographic photographers. Guests set out on daily excursions to photograph stunning mountain vistas, the stark beauty of the Sonoran Desert, and the historic downtown district of Tucson. They zoom in on Native American petroglyphs and capture images of the age-old Navajo hoop dance during a private performance. When not behind a lens, guests can take advantage of fabulous spa resources and an unrivaled team of well-being specialists to help recharge body, mind and spirit.

Upcoming 2011 dates include: February 24-27 (sold out), March 31-April 3 and October 13-16. Due to overwhelming response, the additional date of October 27-30 has been added.

“We are thrilled to partner with such highly regarded and innovative forces within the travel industry,” said Michael Tompkins, President and General Manager of Miraval Arizona. “National Geographic Expeditions, Lindblad Expeditions and Miraval share a similar commitment to offering life-changing experiences.”

For those looking for an overseas adventure, Miraval has partnered with Lindblad Expeditions for an “Island Odyssey” aboard the National Geographic Explorer, a 17-day expedition exploring the Azores and Madeira islands (both belonging to Portugal) the Canary Islands (Spain) and the Isles of Scilly in England. As part of the Skills@Sea program, a Miraval specialist will join the team of expedition leaders to offer signature classes such as Breathwork, Yoga, Meditation and Mindful Stress Mastery. The at-sea program will enable Miraval to introduce itself to a new audience as well as offer an additional kind of experience to its loyal guests. This expedition departs on May 2, 2011.
