Metro has introduced a commemorative one-day pass featuring an image of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in advance of the opening and dedication of the national memorial in August.
Customers may purchase the limited-edition, one-day pass for $9 on Metro’s website, at Metro sales facilities and regional transit stores (Arlington Commuter Stores in Ballston, Crystal City, Rosslyn, Shirlington; Fairfax County Connector Stores at Franconia-Springfield and Tysons Westpark; Alexandria Old Town Transit; and TRIPs commuter stores in Silver Spring and Friendship Heights).
The one-day pass is valid for one day of unlimited Metrorail travel on weekdays after 9:30 a.m. or all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and some federal holidays (unlimited Metrorail travel begins after 9:30 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day). The one-day pass expires at the end of the operating day.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial opens to the public on Monday, August 22, and the official dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, August 28.
