Marriott plans third hotel in Ecuador

Marriott Hotels has revealed plans to open the 202-room Marriott Hotel in Guayaquil in 2016.

The Guayaquil Marriott will be the group’s third property in Ecuador and is being developed by Hotecapsa, overseen by Angel Sanchez.

In addition to 202 guest rooms and suites, the hotel will feature a three-meal-a-day restaurant bar and lounge, a rooftop bar, a concierge lounge, a marketplace, business centre, ample meeting space, and state of the art recreational facilities include a swimming pool and a fitness centre.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Marriott and the opportunity to establish the Marriott Hotels brand’s footprint in Ecuador.

“With the success of the two existing Marriott International properties in Ecuador and the Marriott brand across Latin America and around the world, we are confident that this hotel will be highly successful and play a large role in the continued emergence of the country,” said Sanchez, president of Hotecapsa, owner of hotel.

Situated in the heart of Los Arcos, Samborondon, the Marriott Guayaquil Hotel will be located in one of city’s most desirable areas within walking distance to Guayaquil’s best shopping, dining and entertainment.

Marriott International is currently represented in Ecuador with the 257-room JW Marriott Quito and the 135-room Courtyard by Marriott Guayaquil.

“This is a very exciting time for Marriott in Latin America – we recently announced our goal to double our portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2017 and are thrilled to now be expanding our portfolio in Ecuador with our new partners,” said Craig Smith, president, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International.

“With this project, not only are we bringing more hotel rooms to the Ecuadorian market, but doing so in a vibrant city like Guayaquil which is experiencing a large growth in business and leisure tourism.”
