Marriott named in 50 top places to work

Marriott International has again been selected by Washingtonian magazine as one of the “50 Great Places to Work.” Marriott is the only company to remain on this coveted bi-yearly list since it first debuted in 1999.

“This important local distinction recognizes that Marriott’s longstanding core value of taking great care of our employees is still true today, even with Marriott’s impressive growth as a global company,” said David Rodriguez, executive vice president of Global Human Resources. “More than 3,000 of our managers began their careers at Marriott in hourly positions.  We are committed to an inclusive and supportive workplace, one that fosters growth opportunities for the employees who deliver outstanding service to our guests every day.”

From flexible work schedules to discounts at hotels around the world, Marriott employees enjoy some of the D.C. area’s best benefits.  According to Washingtonian magazine, employees say there are “lots of opportunities for growth, and that the benefits, including work/life flexibility are good.  They’re proud to work at such a respected company.”

Featured in the November issue is a picture of Sami Abuzeid, area vice president, The Americas, Eastern Region, and several employees from the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel.  [The full list will be posted to www.washingtonian.com (http://www.washingtonian.com/index.html) in the coming weeks.]

About the award:  Winners were chosen after a panel of editors and writers reviewed more than 200 companies and some 13,000 employee surveys. The final determinations relied heavily on the scores given by a company’s employees.  According to the publication, this year’s 50 winning workplaces were chosen on the basis of such measures as: generous pay and benefits, challenging and interesting work, great work/life balance, opportunities to learn and grow, financial stability, commitment to charity and community, and the recognition and respect given to employees.
