Mandela Rhodes Place celebrates the Spirit of Ubuntu

The legacy of Nelson Mandela is now a visual experience at the landmark Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa in Cape Town, offering visitors the chance to view the life and times of the icon of peace and reconciliation.

“The Nelson Mandela Timeline tribute is a way for us to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela in Cape Town, The Mandela
Rhodes Foundation, by spreading his message of ‘leave an imprint’ to all who visit the historic hotel,” says Anja Bosken, General Manager, Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel and Spa.

The timeline chronicles the life of South Africa’s most prolific icon in 14 distinct sections which are highlighted across the walls of one of the hotel’s entrance corridors.  In conjunction with the experience, the basement theatre supper club, Rainbow Room, features both an enlightening short documentary of Nelson Mandela’s life together with the new hit musical, the Cape Town Show, which brings the story of the struggle for freedom alive through the eyes of a new generation.

“Mandela’s philosophies are central to the ethos and culture of our Hotel and this can be experienced through our hospitality staff that are charismatic, compassionate and friendly, celebrating cultural diversity in the true spirit of Ubuntu, which is to be open and available to others and embody the essence of humankind. A spirit that has been personified by Madiba himself,” says MRP GM Anja Boskin.

Apart from local and international visitors, the Nelson Mandela tribute also promises to attract students from all cultures who will be encouraged to visit the hotel to learn about the important role Mr Mandela has played in forming a free and democratic South Africa and the establishing of a foundation dedicated to the education of future leaders for the African continent.

Located in the heart of Cape Town’s historic cultural quarter, the hotel affords visitors a unique concept of modern all-apartment luxury living rooted in an unique African heritage.

Popular with both leisure and business travelers this city Hotel & Spa offers an impressive selection of room types, ranging from 67 sqm studios and 153 sqm penthouses to newly launched corporate suites with fully equipped boardrooms, designed to cater to the growing demand in the executive market.
