Malaysia Airlines revises checked-in baggage policy

Malaysia Airlines’ passengers can now check-in a maximum of two pieces of baggage, within the generous 30, 40, and 50 kg free baggage allowance included in their travel in Economy, Business and First class respectively.

These revisions apply to all tickets, irrespective of issuance dates, for travel from 28 May 2014 onwards on all Malaysia Airlines international and domestic flights. It also applies to passengers with domestic connections on MASwings. It does not cover code-share flights operated on other airlines.

The current infant baggage allowance of one piece at 10kg remains the same. This is applicable in First, Business and Economy class cabins.

For hand-carry baggage, guests travelling Economy class are allowed one piece of cabin baggage up to a maximum of 7kg. First and Business Class travellers are allowed two pieces of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 7kg each.

Enrich and oneworld members are entitled to the additional baggage allowance per their membership status.

New excess baggage rates have also been introduced from 28th May 2014. 5kg blocks of excess baggage will cost RM170/£31.50 for flights from the UK and Europe.
