Korean Air has become an official sponsor and ‘Prestige Partner’ of the 17th Asian Games, to be held in Incheon, South Korea in September 2014.

The airline has become the first Korean partner to officially sponsor the Games, with the official signing taking place at the Incheon Hyatt Hotel.

Present at the ceremony were the president of Korean Air, Chang Hoon Chi; the OCA vice president Syed Arif Hasan and the secretary general of the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee, Kwon Kyung-Sang.

Korean Air, as the official and the highest-ranking sponsor, the ‘Prestige Partner’ of the Games, will underwrite most areas related to air transport and hotel accommodation, in a deal valued at US$15 million.

As part of the agreement Korean Air is awarded official Asian Game Partner status and can also utilise the trademark of the 2014 Asian Games.

Korean Air’s sponsorship will contribute to the development of tourism and the economy of Incheon, which is the gateway to Korea and home to Incheon International Airport and host of the 2014 Asian Games.

In addition, Korean Air’s support will encourage participation in amateur sports in Asian countries.

Meanwhile, aside from the sponsorship, the Hanjin Group, parent company of Korean Air, fully supports the preparation for the Games and is involved in the construction of facilities such as the Wang San Marina, which will be used for yachting events and a hotel which will accommodate the participants during the games.
