Kitzbühel welcomes opening of 75th Hahnenkamm Races

The 75th Hahnenkamm Races will be officially opened today in the Legendenpark, Kitzbühel, Austria.

Young athletes from the 13 teams competing in the Juniors Race will be given a worthy welcome in the form of an official procession with all participating nations.

Two additional highlights are also planned for the opening ceremony: on the occasion of the 75th Hahnenkamm Races, a monument will be unveiled in honour of Hahnenkamm winner, Toni Sailer – Athlete of the Century, Olympic Champion and World Champion.

Furthermore, the special “Anniversary Stamp” will be officially presented to the public.

Last summer, four commemorative plaques for ski legends, Herbert Huber, Christian Pravda, Christl Haas and Toni Sailer were unveiled in the Legends Park.

Future ski legends will also be immortalised in years to come, because, as Kitzbühel Cable Car chief executive, Josef Burger noted in summer, “Kitzbühel is a hotbed of sporting talent”.
