Kenya tourism reports surge in UK business

The Kenya Tourist Board has just announced that its UK visitor arrival figures for July 2010 have risen by more than 14 per cent compared to the the same month last year. A total of 23,973 British visitors travelled to Kenya in July 2010, compared to 20,959 in July 2009.

These figures demonstrate that the UK continues to be the number one market for international visitors to Kenya and that we are on target for a continued rise in numbers for the rest of 2010. Cumulatively this takes 2010’s UK figures to end July to just over 96,000, representing an increase of 7% year on year.

Global figures to Kenya have also risen dramatically. In July of this year, 116,759 people travelled to Kenya, compared to 97,611 in July 2009, representing a sharp increase of nearly 20 per cent. July 2010’s figures also surpassed ones for July 2007, which totaled 101,988; 2007 was Kenya’s best year to date.
