JAL Group announces the merger of four subsidiary sales companies

The JAL Group (JAL) announced today the decision to merge four of its subsidiary sales companies - JAL Sales Co., Ltd. (JSAT), JAL Sales Hokkaido Co., Ltd. (JSAH), JAL Sales West Japan Co., Ltd. (JSAW) and JAL Sales Kyushu Co., Ltd. (JSAK). It is scheduled to take effect from October 1, 2010 and the consolidated entity will retain the name of JAL Sales Co., Ltd.

In striving to achieve a swift and successful revitalization, JAL radically scaled back in its business operations and at that time, also reviewed the business structure of its passenger sales departments. It was decided that the merger of the subsidiaries which are now individually promoting and selling JAL Group airline tickets, travel products and services in their respective regions in Japan, will constructively draw together the strengths of the four companies in terms of marketing and sales expertise, management skills, human resources and know-how.

The objective of the merger is to unify the sales strategies and activities under JAL Sales Co., Ltd. in order to effectively reinforce the sales capabilities of JAL, rapidly improve its operating efficiencies, and thereby help drive the early recovery of the Group.
