International Tourism Marketing Summit held in Boao, China

On March 20, 2011, International Tourism Marketing Summit was held in Boao, China. The summit took “Marketing can change the world” as the theme, and attracted the guests from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the International Leisure Organization, Spain, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Chinese cities, Scenic areas and media.

The summit was held by the International Tourism Marketing Association as its first annual meeting in China, which took “Tourism Marketing” as the core theme. The participants focused on the developing trends of international tourism marketing, the next wave of information technology revolution in tourism marketing, tourism destination management and marketing innovation, classic cases of international tourism destination, the rise of Low-carbon and entertainment tourism industry, Internet use in tourism marketing, the combination of tourism planning, tourism investment, and tourism marketing and other issues combined to make brilliant speeches. Alfredo Jefferson, Chairman of International Tourism Marketing Association, former officer of UNDP gave a speech entitled” TOURISM MARKETING IN A CHANGING WORLD”, he said: “The world’s challenging circumstances would require, from tourism destinations, a serious look to their marketing strategies to be able to adapt to the challenging and highly competitive reality.”

Boao is the permanent host city of the famous international conference—Boao Forum for Asia, which is also a famous tourist destination in China and the top international conference venue. In Boao, International Tourism Marketing Association has held the Boao International Tourism Forms for three times and the World Tourism Elites Boao Summit for one time. 26 days later, Boao Forum for Asia, the influential yearly event in Asia will be kicked off here.
