Indian Railway Revenue Earnings up by 11.38%

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1607.96 crore during the period from 11th to 20th June 2010 to Rs. 1798.32 crore during 11th June – 20th June 2011, showing an increase of 11.84 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11th to 20th June 2011 were Rs. 756.77 crore compared to Rs. 664.38 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 11.62 per cent. The revenue earning from other coaching amounted to Rs. 71.08 crore during this period compared to Rs. 64.64 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 9.96 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 11th to 20th June 2011 were 232.40 million compared to 218.07 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.57 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 11th to 20th June, 2011 were 118.47 million and 113.93 million compared to 111.17 million and 106.90 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 6.57 per cent and 6.58 per cent respectively.
