IHG expands footprint in Poland

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the signing of Holiday Inn Dabrowa Gornicza Katowice in Poland.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2015.

The franchise agreement with Hotel Commercial Investment to open Holiday Inn Dabrowa Gornicza Katowice will be the first Holiday Inn hotel in the area.

The 160 room hotel featuring the Open Lobby Concept will be newly built close to exhibition centre EXPO Silesia and occupies a prime location in the greater Katowice area.

The hotel’s main driver of demand will be MICE travellers frequenting the exhibition hall.

Marcin Majchrowicz, owner of Hotel Commercial Investment said: “We’re thrilled to be working with IHG for the first time on this property.

“Holiday Inn Dabrowa Gornicza Katowice is the first internationally branded hotel in Dabrowa Gornicza, so it has a competitive advantage in a prime location.”

Every Holiday Inn features signature bedding that includes a pillow menu, as well as meeting and on-site business facilities, free breakfast and a Kids Stay and Eat Free programme, providing guests with a relaxed comfortable atmosphere and the services they need.

Holiday Inn hotels participate in IHG’s guest loyalty programme, IHG Rewards Club, the industry’s first and largest guest loyalty program with 76 million members.

Peter Vermeer, director of development Eastern and Central Europe said: “The Holiday Inn brand is continuing on its journey of success across Europe as it appeals to both owners and investors who often have very different goals commercially.

“This latest signing in Poland demonstrates the brand’s ability and agility to pioneer new markets across Europe.”

There are currently 281 Holiday Inn hotels in Europe with a further 25 in the pipeline due to open within the next three to five years.
